Directions Of Use

Directions for Use:

Rates:

  • Hand Gun (General): 250ml – 3.3L per 100L Water
  • Boom Spray (General): 50mL – 7L per Hectare

Boom Spraying Crop and Pastures

Apply clopyralid 300 herbicide in sufficient water to obtain good coverage. It should be applied by an accurately calibrated ground rig or aircraft, delivering 200 to 300-micron droplets and not less than 50 l/ha water volume for boom sprayers or not less than 20 l/ha for aerial applications.

Hardhead thistle: Use a spray volume of 200 to 250 L/ha of water.

Silver wattle: Use a spray volume of 150 to 200L/ha of water by ground boom spray and a minimum spray volume of 50 L/ha by aircraft.

High Volume Hand Gun:

Apply the recommended mix to cover leaves fully and stems through a No. 6-8 tip at 700 to 1500 kPa. Spray volume for effective coverage of dense two-metre-high silver wattle should be 30 to 40 litres of spray per 100m² (10 m x 10 m) of infestation. An equivalent of 3000 to 4000 litres per infested hectare for larger areas.

Questions and answers from customers

In the mixing instructions for Clopyralid 300 it says "Tank mixtures: Wettable powder or dry flowable formulations should be added to the spray tank first, followed by suspension concentrates (flowable), aqueous concentrates, emulsifiable concentrate formulations (eg. Haloxyfop or MCPA LVE)." Is Canewett 870 an appropriate product? If not, do you recommend an alternative? Can "Canewett 870" be used with MCPA 750 or would you recommend a different product? Thanks!

    The general Tank Mixing Order for pesticides is;

    1. Partly fill the spray tank with water, as per label directions, to at least 70% full. Commence agitation and maintain agitation during the mixing and spraying process.

    2. Add any Water Conditioners.

    3. Add any Wettable Powders (WP) or Dry Flowable (DF) products.

    4. Add any Water Dispersible Granules (WDG) products.

    5. Add any Flowable Liquids (FL) or Suspension Concentrates (SC).

    6. Add any Emulsifiable Concentrates (EC).

    7. Add any Aqueous Concentrate (AC) or Soluble Liquids (SL).

    8. Add Adjuvant if required.

    9. Fill the remainder of the spray tank with water.  Use the spray mix within 24 hours of preparation (unless otherwise stated on the label).

The Canewett 870 is a non-ionic surfactant and would be added as one of the final ingredients in the mixing order (#8 - Adjuvant).  Whether you require the addition of an Adjuvant/Surfactant/Wetting Agent is specified on each product's directions for use label depending on the situation/crop you are spraying and the pests you are targeting.  The majority of herbicides benefit from the additions of adjuvants such as Canewett.  Canewett 870 assists the uptake of foliar absorbed products, provides quick wetting & a more uniform distribution of the spray.

Tips For Use

General Instructions:

  • It is essential to select a rate appropriate to weed size.
  • Best results will be obtained when weeds are actively growing at treatment.

Mixing:

  • Half-fill the spray tank with water, add the required Clopyralid amount and complete the filling.
  • Agitate continuously to ensure thorough mixing before and during application.
  • Only mix sufficient chemicals for each day’s work.

Restraints:

  • Do not apply to weeds that may be stressed (inactive growth) due to prolonged periods of extreme heat or cold, moisture stress (waterlogging or drought) or previous herbicide treatment, as reduced levels of control, may result.
  • Do not sow susceptible crops (see the protection of crops) for nine months following any application up to 300 ml/ha or for twelve months following an application in excess of 300 ml/ha and up to 500 ml/ha. Field peas should not be sown during the season after applying 500 ml/ha. Where rates over 500ml/ha have been used, susceptible crops, including field peas, should not be sown for at least two years.
  • Do not spray if rain is likely within 3 hours.
